ok well i had this phone for about 2 days i tried fixing it and i cant when i have internet i dont receive no texts and when i receive texts it says i dont have service to use internet please help
Answer:
Which Hero, US, or European?
If you are with Sprint in the U.S. give their tech support a call. It might just be that the phone needs to be provisioned, have it's programming resent to you.
If you are talking a GSM phone outside the U.S. you'll need to contact your provider, as you might have a problem with your SIM card.

Google Nexus One pricing and launch date leak
Google has invited journalists to an event next Tuesday, prompting speculation that they will announce the launch the Google Nexus One mobile phone. The Google Nexus One is the first mobile handset designed entirely by Google. The phone runs Google’s Android operating system and the hardware was designed in collaboration with HTC.
The invite says: “With the launch of the first Android-powered device just over a year ago, we’ve seen how a powerful, open platform can spur mobile product innovation. And this is just the beginning of what’s possible.” Since details of the phone emerged earlier this month, rumours suggested that it would go on sale in early January. Rumours on gadget blogs today suggest that the phone will go on sale in the US on January 5. There’s no word yet – even as a rumour – about whether the phone will be available in the UK or whether Britons will have to wait to get their hands on it.
Gadget blogs are also quoting leaked documents saying that the phone will be available unlocked for $530 (£334) and for $180 (£113) as part of a contract with T-Mobile. The unlocked phone will work on any GSM network, allowing users to simply insert their SIM and start using the phone. (As Ron Maltiel points out via Twitter, the Nexus One won’t work on every network. CDMA networks, such as Verizon, don’t use a SIM so the phone will not be compatible.)
Again, there is no word on UK pricing or which network, if any, will supply a subsidised version of the phone. Google has so far declined to comment on rumours about the Nexus One

Google Nexus One Costs 530US$

The much hyped Google Nexus One which is said to be announced very soon has gotten a price tag. A web page shows the price of the Google Nexus One as 530 US$ (Dollars) for an unlocked handset from Google.
There is also an option for a two year contract with T-Mobile which will cost you 180 US$.
The Nexus One will be manufactured by HTC and every Google account holder can buy five units.

How HTC Became a Smartphone Hero
The last few years have been brutal for some of the best-known companies in the handset business. Nokia (s nok) has watched its dominance erode, Motorola (s mot) failed to maintain the momentum it created with the Razr, and Sony Ericsson’s prospects look bleaker by the day. But while some venerable phone makers struggle to remain relevant, Taiwan’s HTC — a relative newcomer in an increasingly crowded field — has become a dominant force, reports Wired News. Here’s why:
- Smart about smartphones: HTC was early to recognize a shift in mobile toward a more PC-like model, centered on standard chipsets and operating systems and focused on the Internet. The company initially aligned itself with Microsoft and now is solidly in the camp of Google (s goog) Android. Meanwhile, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and others dragged their feet. Lesson: See the future clearly.
- In Google we trust: HTC (GigaOM Pro profile) recognized that Android — not Windows Mobile — was likely to emerge as a winner, and then it moved quickly. The company is a founding member of the Open Handset Alliance, a Google-led consortium of mobile players centered on the Android operating system. It produced Android’s first handset — T-Mobile USA’s G1 — and has continued to churn out Android phones as the OS picks up traction around the world. Wisely, it plans to ramp up its Android efforts and focus less on Windows Mobile, which is becoming less relevant by the day even as the smartphone space heats up. Lesson: Bet on deep-pocketed winners less hampered by their past.
- Touchscreen crazy. Apple (GigaOM Pro profile) was the first to gain traction with a touchscreen superphone, allowing users to eschew bulky QWERTY keyboards in favor of a more intuitive user interface. HTC saw that touchscreen technology would be the interface of the future long before bigger rivals like Nokia and Sony Ericsson realized it and joined the bandwagon. It has effectively drafted on Cupertino’s momentum with the G1 and, more recently, the Droid Eris from Verizon Wireless. And demand for touchscreen technology will only ratchet up as consumers increasingly demand higher tech in smaller form factors. Lesson: If you can’t invent first, then be a super-fast follower.
- Sense user interface. HTC introduced its new UI earlier this year with the debut of the HTC Hero, which received rave reviews for its software. The Sense UI continues to garner praise and looks to play an increasingly larger role as the company expands its smartphone portfolio. Lesson: Be unique and make your software stand out.
- Effective brand-building. Once happy to churn out handsets that sported carrier brands, HTC has stepped out of the shadows by building its own brand. The company ramped up those efforts in the last few months with its “You” campaign, which touts the personalized features of its handsets. The move not only allows HTC to market a phone as a must-have feature “that gets you,” it also prevents carriers from co-opting its phones with their own marketing campaigns — like Verizon Wireless (s vz) has done with its Droid initiative. That marketing will be crucial if HTC is continue to grow its mind share among consumers. Lesson: Use marketing to help get people to love your products.
HTC still faces stiff competition in the cutthroat smartphone space, of course. The momentum of Apple’s (s aapl) iPhone continues to grow; Research In Motion (s rimm) has only gained traction in recent months; and a host of other manufacturers are joining the Android bandwagon.
But HTC has impressively built out its worldwide footprint in the last two years, and its ad campaigns are helping the company morph from a simple hardware manufacturer into a major consumer-electronics player. So while some mobile dinosaurs are fighting for their survival, the new kid on the block continues to pick up steam.

HTC Kaiser Windows Mobile 6.1 Certificates Issue?
I used the Harem and Android application once and then shut down my phone. When i turned it back on there was a message about some application not being trusted etc. I didnt take notice and then attempted to flash my phone to 6.5. I took out the mem card, sim battery as instructed. The software in the Flashing Your First Kaiser Rom wouldnt run (certificate, trusted error etc.) and then after putting back in sim card and microsd not even harem or a lot of other application would work.
It appears the phone wont run any unsigned applications now, why would this be and how can i fix it?
Answer:
Is your Kaiser CID unlocked? If it is, go to Start>Settings>System>Clear Storage to do a Hard Reset. After it has completed, flash your custom ROM again.
Hope that helps.

Video Review - HTC HD2
If you haven’t seen the phone in action, check out the reviews above. My initial thoughts -
- HUGE screen
- LARGE phone
- new Sense interface still as sluggish as the old TouchFLO interface (not better with Windows Mobile 6.5)
Would I want to buy one? nah, not now. Check out this review from Engadget if you want to know more about the HTC HD2.

Ahh fucking mondays!
Good morning! How was everyone’s thanksgiving weekend? I don’t usually post on Mondays but I’m bored somewhat sick and not going to class today so. I figured I might as well do something productive other then just watch movies all day.
So there’s been a lot on the internet today about two Android products. First the HTC Hero, which looks pretty sick but they all look pretty cool. So I’m not going to even really bother writing about it. If you are interested in reading about another Android phone (Click Here) The other was the rumored Google phone which would run on Google Voice or there own VoIP. That right there is worth getting excited for! If Google is telling me they can make my cell phone bill lower then I’m all about listening to what they got to say, and telling AT&T to go fuck themselves.
Also I just read some crazy shit over at Gizmodo that Department of Defense bought 2,200 PS3 consoles to build a supercomputer. Interesting very interesting.

HTC UNVEILS GLOBAL ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN AND NEW ‘QUIETLY BRILLIANT’ BRAND POSITIONING
YOU campaign brings new approach to mobile industry; represents HTC’s focus on each customer
TAOYUAN, Taiwan – October 26, 2009 – HTC Corporation, a global smartphone designer, today unveiled a global advertising campaign that is based on HTC’s new Quietly Brilliant brand positioning. As HTC’s first global advertising campaign, the YOU campaign is being rolled out across 20 countries in the coming weeks and features the tagline, ‘You don’t need to get a phone. You need a phone that gets you.’ This represents HTC’s commitment to focus on people, their needs and how they work and live to ensure that HTC devices suit them.
“Quietly brilliant is doing great things in a humble way, with the belief that the best things in life can only be experienced, not explained,” said John Wang, chief marketing officer, HTC Corporation. “The YOU campaign is the perfect embodiment of ‘quietly brilliant’ and is core to HTC as a company, innovator and partner.“
The YOU campaign is focused on driving broad, global visibility and understanding of HTC’s unique brand promise – that it’s all about YOU, the consumer, and in fact not the device. HTC worked with Los Angeles-based advertising agency, Deutsch LA Inc. to create the YOU campaign that will employ an integrated-media approach to reach consumers via television, print, outdoor and online. HTC’s design expertise will be echoed throughout the campaign, with commercial spots highlighting the unique functionality of HTC smartphones.
“We’ve come to have a very emotional relationship with our phones. Many of our key experiences in any given day come through this one device and yet most of the advertising in the category is still about utility,” says Eric Hirshberg, co-CEO and chief creative officer, Deutsch LA. “HTC’s whole design philosophy is very personal. They make phones where your experience is completely unique, so we think there is a connection between how people feel about their phones and how HTC makes them.”
HTC worked with London-based creative consultancy, FigTree to create the quietly brilliant brand positioning. The ‘quietly brilliant’ positioning was inspired by HTC’s culture of putting customers first, born from a heritage of creating breakthrough products and continued innovation. As part of HTC’s culture, the “quietly brilliant” positioning will be rolled out in all forms of communication and brand touch points across the company.
“Some of life’s most brilliant ideas started with a simple doodle on the back of a napkin,” said Simon Myers, CEO of FigTree. “HTC’s new look uses this visual language of doodles to explain all the quietly brilliant features and benefits of HTC devices in a simple and human way.”

HTC HD2

Pictures taken with the HTC Hero
Talk about déjà vu… Sure, the HTC Hero features a 5 megapixel camera, but compared to the 3 megapixel camera on other HTC devices, it’s just more of the same!
But I’m not complaining – “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”
Like the T-Mobile G1, the Magic, and the Touch Pro, the resulting pictures (slide show) are quite nice. Low-light performance is decent, and so is exposure, but colors are a bit muted, and I was expecting more detail from the increased resolution.
Like the Touch Pro2 and the iPhone 3GS, the Hero camera supports touch-to-focus, but I’d still prefer a dedicated two-stage camera button. The macro is very good, requiring no user intervention, but there is no flash.
Video recording is extremely disappointing for a modern 5 megapixel camera. Resolution is limited to 352×288 pixels (CIF), and frame rate to about 15 fps. This is particularly unfortunate since the Hero provides initial auto-focus like the iPhone 3GS and Nokia N900.

Phone shortage?
In the world of Mobile Phones, you don’t sell something until you’ve filled a warehouse full of them.
A week ago I ordered my HTC HD2 an was immediately told that HTC simply can not cope with demand and it was looking like there would be some delay.
Today, I rang Vodafone and asked what the score was in reality – only to be told that overnight they had received a load of them and mine was being dispatched today! The chap also gave me a tracking code that would be available online tonight.
However, It must be said that while this phone is far better than anything presently available on the market, stocks are indeed very low. The gentleman I spoke to told me that last night a further briefing was held on the matter and sure enough, not but minutes ago I received the ‘Unavailable until December’ official email.
So hopefully – a result, along with the 1st of several bespoke Wondering Brit phone cases being made and sent from China.

HTC Pure Vs. Garmin Nuvifone Vs. Samsung Impression..... Which one of these is better? (Detail Please)?
Answer:
I've been using the nuvifone g60 for almost 4 weeks now and love it. Mostly, the nuvifone is an excellent navigator and when you clip it the the windshield mount, it charges and has a great speakerphone. The thing that differentiates this from other smartphones is that you have REAL built-in maps so the navigator will work anywhere, anytime and simultaneous with phone calls and other applications. I don't ever have to charge the phone at home since I drive about 1 hour per day and it charges in the navigation cradle. The location based navigation functions are really cool and you can geo tag locations and photos. Once something is geotagged it can be shared with others via texting. You pay NOTHING for the navigation since the maps are built in, but there is a $5.99/month charge for the premium subscription service which includes traffic, yellow pages, gas prices, movie information, entertainment, flight status, white pages and other applications. The traffic is actually very accurate and useful if you live in a congested area.
As i know, the black one for at&t free now, check out!

Motorola Cliq or Droid coming to Rogers
Rogers wireless president, Rob Bruce, said in mid-September that a Motorola Android device would hit Rogers early 2010. Then, people thought it would be the Motorola Cliq, but it could be the Droid, or it’s GSM brother, the Milestone. The Cliq’s GSM brother is the DEXT, which has already released around the world.
Rogers really needs a phone like the Droid because they’re smartphone line has been lagging in innovation recently, especially the HTC Magic and Dream being their only Android devices (thought that’s better than Bell). The Droid would help keep the competition with the Hero which came out on Telus this week.

Premissas:
- Cliente insatisfeito e Cliente detrator

My HTC Hero
I got a HTC Hero last week. I was debating between iPhone 3g (not 3gs as it is not available in India yet, you suck Apple!!!). But what made me go for HTC hero is probably that it has Andriod and iPhone 3g is so last year. Hero is brand new model. However if iPhone 3gs was available for a simlar price I guess I would have got that.
I am happy with my Hero. It isnt laggy like they say all over the internet. Thats because my hero has the ROM update installed already. So I didnt face any performance issues. However for fun I did root my Hero and installed Modaco ROM v2. It was fun. I dont notice any performance improvement with Modaco but then like I said my Hero had an optimized ROM already. I bet I could never do such cool stuff with an iPhone 3gs which is locked as hell. So I am happy with my choice. The music player is surprisingly very good. Love it. The browser is adorable. You can pinch and zoom just like the iPhone. That’s what I always wanted in a phone, a easy to use browser and this one does the job perfectly.
Now what do I hate about it? The camera. Dont be fooled by its 5 mega pixels. I had a k790i sony erricsson before and it’s camera was fantastic and it had a powerful flash too. The Hero takes lousy photos and it has no flash. A real drawback since I love taking photos impromtu. Other than that I find this phone perfect.

Windows Phone OS walk-through
With all the hype around the iPhone & Android phone one could almost forget that Windows Mobile is also a significant player in that market. I came across a video today that shows a walk-through for the latest version (6.5) running on a HTC Diamond II. It is interesting to see the many changes. A lot of features come out of the iphone book but boy they have made the GUI look pig-ugly! There are a few new features that look really interesting:
- “my phone”: this lets you synch everything on your phone “into the cloud”. You can then access & manage it in any web browser.
- The Browser: The phone sport a full desktop version of IE displaying web content in the same way as on your desktop. You can also select to view a mobile compatible version if you want to.
- “tag”: Tag is an app that lets you scan barcode type tags in public spaces (billboards, magazines etc.) and will pull up relevant web content. Great for advertising & marketing campaigns.
Anyway, look and see what you think:

- CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon, 1 GHz
- RAM: 448 MB
- Stocare: 512 MB memorie internă, slot microSD
- Display: Touchscreen capacitiv de 4.3 inch, 800 x 480 pixeli
- Cameră foto: 5 MP, autofocus, LED Flash
- Conectivitate: Wi-Fi (inclusiv funcţionalitate de router wireless), HSDPA, Bluetooth
- Navigaţie: GPS, A-GPS
- Alte facilităţi: Accelerometru, jack de 3,5 mm, radio FM, senzor de proximitate.
Software
OS: Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional
Aplicaţii: YouTube, FaceBook, Twitter (HTC Peep), Pocket Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF Viewer, OneNote), Busolă digitală, HTC Footprints
Dimensiuni: 120,5 x 67 x 11 mm
Greutate: 157 g
Baterie: Li-Ion 1230 mAh

HTC Magic: O primeiro Android do Brasil
- Teclado virtual
- Interface: HTC Sense
- Track ball
- 116g de peso
- Bateria 1340 mAh
- Quadband GSM e dual band 3G
- Bluetooth 2.0
- WiFi 802.11b/g
- GPS
- microSD

Két új HTC PDA a színen
Természetesen Bluetooth modul is lesz a HTC Imagio PDA készülékben.

HTC Snap - Friend or Foe?
HTC Snap
I will be the first to admit that I am somewhat of a gadget freak, and this includes my cell phone. While working at Microsoft, the smartphone has become a staple of my every day life and I’m not sure what I would do without it. The ability to look at my e-mail from almost anywhere at anytime allows me to know exactly what’s going on from the car, airport, couch, etc.
With a good friend of mine working in the Windows Mobile division at Microsoft, I became aware of smartphones available outside of the public providers. Specifically, a web site previously know as Mobile Planet, which is now known as Expansys, is a re-seller of a variety of smartphones and pocket PCs. Unlike the public providers such as AT&T Wireless, Verizon, etc., Expansys sells cellular phones that can be used within the provider’s network, assuming the provider allows it. My current provider is AT&T Wireless, and by purchasing an “unlocked” device through Expansys, and then inserting your simcard into the device, you’ve got a device without a contract. (My very first smartphone was with Cingular and was under contract, and that’s how I obtained my simcard. I’m not sure if you can get a simcard without a contract.)
My previous smartphone, an HTC model, had served it’s purpose quite well, but had seen it’s end-of-life when the “End” button fell off after being dropped one too many times. It was time to move on, and the HTC Snap was destined to become my next phone.
I purchased the phone from the Expansys web site back in June of 2009 and got it up and running right away. As I mentioned above, it was as easy as removing the simcard from my previous phone and inserting it into my Snap. Immediately I could start making and receiving calls. (Getting my phone working with my company’s Exchange server was a different story.)
It was a few days later that I was out playing golf and was carrying the phone in my pocket. I took the phone out and prepared to use it when I noticed a bunch of “dust speckles” in the upper right corner of the display. While this does not hinder the usage of the phone itself, it does make the display a little hard to read in heavy sunlight, and I was a little shocked that my brand new phone was exhibiting such a problem. (I have never opened the phone for any reason.)
I discussed the problem with a couple friends and one of them mentioned that they had heard about similar problems with the iPhone and a Google search reveals that this is pretty common.
In early July, after deciding that I did not pay a bunch of money for a sub-par smartphone, I contacted the HTC support department. Note that HTC is based in Taiwan, but they have support offices in the United States, as well as the UK.
I described the problem to the HTC support staff and they informed me that they could not help me at the time since they did not have any parts available in the United States for repair purposes. My call was logged, a case started, and I was told that someone would get back to me.
A little over a month later, I was planning a European vacation and this seemed like the perfect time to send my phone in for repair. I had no need to have my phone with me while travelling, and was hopeful that I could send it in before I left and have it waiting for me when I returned.
I contacted the HTC support department again and after some time, they were able to located my case. I explained my desire to send the phone in for repair before I left for vacation, but was told that parts were still not available within the US. This seemed pretty crazy since over a month had passed since my initial call, and the phone had been public for some time (released around June 9TH.)
It was at that point that I went on a mission to get my phone in for repair. I contacted another department within HTC hoping that I could get a better answer, but it didn’t help. I even went as far as staying up until midnight to contact the HTC support department within the UK, who said that they could fix my phone, but I would have to pay international shipping charges, and it was unlikely that my phone would be returned in time.
A couple days later, the HTC support department within the US contacted me and informed me that parts were now available and that I could send in the phone for repair. Several stipulations were placed on my sending the phone in, including:
- I would be required to pay the shipping charges to send the phone in for repair. While this seems somewhat expected, it seems unfair given that the phone has a defect that requires me to send it in. (The company should provide a pre-paid shipping label.)
- I would be required to pay a “triage fee” of $28. This is ridiculous given that the phone has a defect that I am not responsible for.
- I would be required to pay a “Global Warranty Service fee” of $20 since my phone comes from the UK. What?
- A customer service agent would contact me prior to the repair. This is perfectly reasonable, but not in my situation since I would be travelling and unavailable by phone.
- The return of the phone would require my signature upon delivery. Again reasonable, but not in my situation, since I would not be at home for a couple weeks.
I’m simply astounded by the triage fee and the global warranty service fee. How can a company charge you a fee to fix one of their own products that has a defect for which they are responsible?
I compare this experience to my digital camera, made by Canon, which I have sent in more than once. While you are required to pay the shipping charges for the initial shipment, if the product is under warranty and the defect is their responsibility, they will not charge any fees for the repair.
While I have learned to live with the dust under the screen, this experience makes me think twice about buying another HTC device in the future.

Palm says NO MORE Windows Mobile
In what seems to have been a turbulent month in terms of technology news; from product releases to company closures the latest big news is from Palm.
Jon Rubinstein, CEO of Palm has confirmed that Windows Mobile is not part of the future strategy for Palm.
In Rubinstein’s words "Due to importance of webOS to our overall strategy, we’ve made the decision to dedicate all future development resources to the evolution of webOS. Which means that going forward, our roadmap will include only Palm webOS-based devices"
Not a great week for Microsoft and the Windows Mobile Team, the end of i-mate and now no more license sales to Palm!
Does this leave HTC, Acer, Samsung and Motorola to suck up the i-mate and Palm Windows Mobile users?

Why Google doesn't love HTC
I think Google doesn’t love HTC despite of many efforts from HTC side to support Android OS with their new and nice mobile phones.
Why do I say this?
Well I’ve just discover an interesting thing.
I’m a big fan of Google online solutions (Search Engine, GMail, GTalk and so on …) and I often use Google Translate trying to understand what French or other language websites are selling.
I even have a button in Firefox toolbar to automatically translate any page to English. (The button comes from Google Toolbar.)
Yesterday I was reading a Romanian article (I’m a native Romanian speaker) and I pressed the button for translation.
The effect was impressive because the translation was almost perfect but with a very slightly difference.
So, if you get the fallowing Romanian sentence
“Multe persoane sunt atrase de produsele HTC.”
and try to translate to English using Google Translate you will see a result like this:
“Many people are attracted to Samsung products.”
(You can choose Romanian as the source language or just leave it on “Detect language”.)
Of course you don’t speak Romanian but it’s not so hard to see that in the initial sentence I’m talking about HTC products (”produs” is Romanian version of “product”).
But magically Google translates “HTC products” to “Samsung products“.
That’s strange isn’t it?
I found it funny and I don’t know what’s the answer but I’m just wondering how many brands are replaced by Google with their competitors?
Is this happening only in Google Translate?
I attached a screen capture of my “experiment” just for the record.
